Myriad programs have not let up in their pursuit of Long Beach Poly (Calif.) four-star cornerback and Georgia commit Donte Wright.

Oklahoma is prioritizing the Golden State early on in the 2027 cycle and it would love to add Wright to the fold. On Wednesday, Sooners head coach Brent Venables visited the standout defensive back:

It’s Jan. 21 and Oklahoma already has four commits from the state of California in its 2027 class: Pacific Palisades four-star athlete Demare Dezeurn, Tustin four-star EDGE Taven Epps, Inglewood four-star defensive lineman Elija Harmon and Chatsworth Sierra Canyon three-star running back Jaxsen Stokes.

Dezeurn is the No. 102 overall prospect and No. 9 player in California in the cycle. Epps is right behind as the No. 103 recruit and No. 10 player in the state. The blue-chip EDGE is the latest to join the class, making his pledge during the Navy All-American Bowl.

“What really stood out to me was the stadium atmosphere,” Dezeurn told Rivals about his decision. “It’s one-of-a-kind, you can’t get any better than Oklahoma. It’s loud, everybody is there, it’s a college town, everybody is an Oklahoma fan. It’s a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.

Wright won’t be easy to flip and OU is far from the only team trying to do just that. Earlier this month, Rivals’ Adam Gorney reported that Oregon and Miami were the two schools making a run to flip him away from UGA.

“They’re starting to pick up and starting to be toward the top,” Wright said of the Hurricanes.

Wright will eventually set up official visits and Oklahoma would love to get him down to Norman. Georgia swooped in for his commitment back at the end of June. He’s currently the top-ranked pledge in the mix for Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.

“I’m still happily committed to Georgia,” Wright told Rivals’ Greg Biggins last month. “I was just out there in October for the Ole Miss game and coach Tae (Donte Williams) and I have a good real relationship.”

Wright is the No. 38 overall prospect and No. 5 corner in the 2027 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 5 recruit in California.

Oklahoma currently has 13 commits in its 2027 class. It ranks No. 3 early on in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The full class, as of Jan. 21, can be seen here.
