GLENDALE – Former Arizona Cardinals coaches are having a busy 2026 offseason. Jonathan Gannon is interviewing with multiple teams to be a defensive coordinator, Drew Petzing was hired by the Detroit Lions as their offensive coordinator and a new name could be added to that list very soon. Arizona’s passing game coordinator and wide receiver coach Drew Terrell has been interviewing with teams for offensive coordinator openins, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Chargers and Washington Commanders have all interviewed Terrell for the role and are interested in the young coach.

Terrell gaining interest from teams:
The 34-year-old is a Mesa, Arizona native that attended Hamilton High School and was a three-star prospect. Terrell had an offer to stay home at ASU, but enrolled at Stanford’s football program as a wide receiver and punt returner. In 2012, he led the Pac-12 in punt return yards and punt return touchdowns.
Following his time at Stanford, Terrell began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech. He remained there for only a season and went to Michigan under then head coach Jim Harbaugh as a graduate assistant for three seasons. Harbaugh and the Chargers’ interest in Terrell for the offensive coordinator gig likely started at that time.

In 2018, Terrell had his first NFL coaching opportunity with the Carolina Panthers as an offensive quality control coach for two seasons. He jumped ship to the Washington Commanders from 2020-2022 as the franchise’s wide receiver coach before joining Gannon’s staff in 2023. Regardless if he is hired as an offensive coordinator for next season, Terrell has plenty of interest from team’s to be coaching in the NFL next season following being let go from Arizona.
