Vote now for Seacoast boys, girls Athlete of the Week for Jan. 12-17

Welcome to the fifth installment of Seacoast high school Athletes of the Week for the 2025-26 winter sports season, presented by York County Community College.

This week, and in weeks to come, you can vote for a girls athlete and a boys athlete of the week.

York County College presents the Seacoast high school Athletes of the Week.

This week's polls are for outstanding athletic accomplishments from Jan. 12-17.

How do I cast my vote?

Voting can be completed through the two ballots listed below. Voting closes midnight Thursday, Jan. 15.

How do we learn who wins?

Winners will be announced in a story published Friday, Jan. 23 at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports.

May I nominate for future ballots?

Yes. Nominate a Seacoast high school athlete by sending an email to [email protected]. Feel free to send us a photo of the athlete, too.

BOYS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Jackson Gregoire, Somersworth, basketball

Jeff Gregoire

Gregoire scored a career-high 24 points, with six 3-pointers, in the Hilltoppers' 59-56 Division IV win over Raymond on Friday, Jan. 16. Gregoire also made big plays and made two 3-pointers in Monday, Jan. 12 loss to Derryfield.

Cam Knowles, Exeter, hockey

Cam Knowles

Knowles scored the game-winning goal with 61 seconds left in overtime, his second of two goals, to lift Exeter to a 3-2 Division I win over Trinity on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Jack Martin, Portsmouth, skiing

Martin placed second overall in a combined time of 44.10 seconds as the Portsmouth ski team won a five-team giant slalom race on Thursday, Jan. 15 at Mount Sunapee Ski Resort.

Maddox Messier, Somersworth/Coe-Brown, hockey

Maddox Messier

Messier recorded 34 saves and allowed just one goal as the Bearcats handed Spaulding its first loss of the season, 5-1, in a Division II game Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Edi Petro, Dover, swimming

Petro won the 200 free (2:02.9) and placed second in the 100 breast (1:15.06) to lead Dover to a five-team win at the Nashua Boys and Girls Club on Saturday, Jan. 17.

GIRLS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Nya Avery, York, basketball

Nya Avery

Avery scored 14 points in York's 47-40 Class B South win over Yarmouth on Thursday, Jan. 15

Amaya Beckles, Newmarket, basketball

Beckles scored 24 points in Newmarket's 63-27 Division IV win over Mount Royal Academy on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Beckles also scored 17 points in Monday, Jan. 12 Division IV win over Epping and scored 14 points in Newmarket's 44-29 Division IV loss to Littleton on Friday, Jan. 16.

Eliza Farwell, Oyster River/Portsmouth, hockey

Eliza Farwell

Farwell scored three goals, and dished out three assists in Oyster River/Portsmouth's 8-1 Division I win over Exeter on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Brianne Lynch, Portsmouth, swimming

Lynch won the 400 free (5:39.50) and placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:32.64) to help Portsmouth to a five-team meet win at Portsmouth Indoor Pool on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Jane Yun, Dover, swimming

Yun won two individual events, and competed in a winning relay to help lead Dover to a five-team meet at the Nashua Boys and Girls Club on Saturday, Jan. 17.
