The Sacramento Kings were given a poor offseason grade after making some questionable roster decisions.

The Sacramento Kings have had an interesting offseason thus far as they have elected to upgrade their roster to chase a playoff spot next season rather than beginning a rebuild like many expected.
Sacramento has made multiple moves already this summer by landing Dennis Schroder via a sign-and-trade with the Detroit Pistons.
They also sent Jonas Valanciunas to the Denver Nuggets for Dario Saric before signing Drew Eubanks in free agency.
In the 2025 draft, the Kings selected Nique Cliford and Maxime Raynaud, both of whom should have a large role next season.
While the Kings made some notable additions to their roster, Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes was not impressed as he gave them a D- offseason grade.
“Dennis Schröder's deal features a partially guaranteed third season, which mitigates some of the risk of a pact worth up to $44 million over three years. It's still hard to view a soon-to-be 32-year-old who's played for nine teams in 12 years as a clearly positive addition,” Hughes wrote. “The Sacramento Kings needed a starting point guard, though, and Schröder might have been the best they could do. Otherwise, the Kings took on Dario Saric for Jonas Valanciunas, ultimately taking back an inferior player who doesn't address the roster's lack of a backup center. Before you mention him, neither does minimum signee Drew Eubanks.”
Hughes makes a great point about the risk of Schroder, who is more known for being a backup point guard instead of a starting one.
He then pointed out the questionable decision of moving on from Valanciunas, though that move will open up playing time for Raynaud and also Eubanks.
Despite this, Hughes makes a compelling point about how Sacramento did not really improve too much this offseason and with many teams in the Western Conference making major upgrades this offseason, the Kings may be on the outside of the playoff picture once again next season.
