Notre Dame is the favorite to bring home the Heisman and National Title

Despite the snub in 2025, Notre Dame is the favorite to have a massive year in 2026… like Indiana just had.

That’s an exciting title — isn’t it? That’s a thing in 2026 which, if it becomes reality, would mean the Irish have rightfully claimed their spot as the king of college football. It’s also something the Indiana Hoosiers just accomplished in the 2025 season… which just feels insane.

So congrats to Indiana for winning the national championship over the Miami Hurricanes with their Heisman quarterback, Fernando Mendoza.

It might take a few more drinks, but now we can move forward to the 2026 college football season which is about 229 days away. That may seem like a long time (because it is) but outlets everywhere are ready to start projecting games, records, awards, and titles. Not the least of which is the betting market, and the market like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish a bunch.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Notre Dame quarterback, CJ Carr, is the current favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.

While the Heisman Trophy is definitely nice, and it’s a shame Jeremiyah Love wasn’t able to win it in 2025 — the national championship is obviously the most important thing here. According to Fanduel Sportsbook, Notre Dame is the co-favorite with the Ohio State Buckeyes to win the national title.

Marcus Freeman has already pushed the narrative for Notre Dame in 2026 with a LEAVE NO DOUBT battle cry, and with a schedule like the Irish have — it really is something they will need to accomplish. The schedule is more than manageable to get back to the college football playoff, but there will be plenty of scrutiny along the way.

The Irish need to go 12-0 the same way the won their final 10 regular season games in 2024 and 2025. The time is now for Notre Dame. Will they be able to grind it out? 229 days y’all.
