Max Homa finished the first round of 3M Open with a score of 5-under. He went bogey-free like many others at TPC Twin Cities.

The man is still chasing his first win of the year, after delivering underwhelming performances for quite some time now.

With the FedEx event coming up, Homa needs a phenomenal two weeks to make the Playoffs from his current rank of 102. But that isn't bothering the 34-year-old golfer. He is looking forward to a special moment in his life. His wife Lacey is pregnant with their second and is due in two weeks.

"I need to win. I really need to win cuz my wife's pregnant and I need to go home." Homa revealed during a press conference on Thursday. "We have like two weeks left. So it's a little extra stressful. But I think the only way that you can go out and win a golf tournament is by not exactly trying to win the golf tournament."

Lacey and Homa's close friend Rickie Fowler is also playing in the tournament. He posted a 6-under during the first round of play. He is comparatively in a better place than Homa, coming from a 14th-place finish at the British Open.

"I know what I need to do. I need to play unbelievable." Homa added. "So fortunately, my games felt awesome the last month or so. I don't know how you just make yourself win. I'm just trying to kind of keep doing what I'm doing and see what happens on a Sunday."

Up next, he will tee off again next week at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, where he expects strong fan attendance, being a local favorite.
