Joao Pedro spoke to the media after Chelsea’s win over Brentford at the weekend, where he gave a critical review of his own form this season.

“My season is not bad but not great. I have carried on with small injury problems. I need to always try to do my best and work hard to achieve a high level,” the striker said.

JP hopes that injury issues are behind him and he can start to show summer form

Those injury problems were highlighted by Enzo Maresca multiple times in the Autumn. When Cole Palmer and Liam Delap were both out injured, the Brazilian got forced to play a lot, and it’s fair to say it’s not helped him.

But even now, we don’t love his attitude. He could put himself about a lot more. Liam Delap is hardly in great form since arriving, but he feels more likely to make things happen simply because he runs around more.

“I want to improve and achieve the highest level possible, because if I do that I am going to help my team-mates and help Chelsea. Our target is still the same: to reach the highest possible in every competition. We need to keep working hard and in the end we will see where we finish.”

In other news…

JP has a fresh start under the new manager, and will be hoping to impress with more minutes against Pafos this week. He did score a goal on Saturday, but it does feel like Rosenior is still going to prefer Liam Delap at the moment.

Chelsea are easing their way into January, but it’s in the summer that the real big moves could happen. One has been suggested which we don’t yet believe, but things could change as time passes.
