New hub near Rabat marks major boost for football development across the continent
Infantino Inaugurates FIFA’s First African Regional Office in Morocco
FIFA President Gianni Infantino officially opened the new African regional office of the global football body on Saturday at the Mohammed VI Complex near Rabat Morocco.
Who Attended the Historic Opening?
Joining Infantino at the inauguration were CAF President Patrice Motsepe and Fouzi Lekjaa head of the Moroccan Football Federation FRMF.
According to the FRMF the new office reflects FIFA’s strategy to strengthen its on ground presence in development priority regions and support initiatives aiming to grow football across Africa.
FIFA Office Aimed at Supporting All 54 African Federations
Infantino described the moment as "football celebration" coinciding with Morocco’s 26th Throne Day commemorating King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne.
He emphasized the Moroccan based office will serve as vital link for all 54 African national associations especially with major upcoming events like the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup and the 2030 Men’s World cup, co hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

FRMF chief Fouzi Lekjaa hailed the new facility as symbol of Morocco’s rising status in global football noting the strategic partnership between FIFA & Morocco.
CAF President Motsepe added that Morocco's consistently proven its capabilities by successfully hosting international & continental tournaments.
What’s Next for Morocco?
Currently hosting the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations WAFCON with the final between Morocco & Nigeria scheduled Saturday night at Rabat’s Olympic Stadium.
Morocco'll also host the FIFA U17 Women’s World cup for 5 consecutive editions before co hosting the 2030 FIFA World cup.
