Chelsea’s January transfer windows these days are mainly used as a chance to shuffle around some loan players, and that’s just what we’re seeing here.
Kendry Paez, an exciting wonderkid who we were all excited to see come to Europe, has struggled on loan at Strasbourg, and today Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Ecuadorian’s loan there would be terminated.
Paez could be set for domestic loan after Ligue 1 struggles
Kendry Paez’s future up in the air according to Fabrizio Romano.
This has felt like it’s been coming for a while. He’s simply not been able to make an impact at Strasbourg, making just 4 starts and playing a total of 419 Ligue 1 minutes this season.
Given the manager who was benching him, Liam Rosenior, is now Chelsea boss, his pathway to the first team at Stamford Bridge looks trickier than ever. There have been questions in France about his personality and his attitude, and those are always rumours one wants to shake off as quickly as possible.

Perhaps Coventry could be calling. They have a manager we trust and play lovely attacking football. Maybe 6 months of intense Championship action is just what Paez needs to help acclimatise himself to European football?
In other news…
Chelsea’s problems were in attack against Brentford, but they’re moving in fast on a new defender, with Jeremy Jacquet likely to come to Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.
Simon Johnson’s piece for the Athletic was all about Cole Palmer’s fitness and why he’s still struggling for form despite apparently being fully recovered from his injury.
