Duke Women Roll Again, Blowing Out Georgia Tech By 47

Duke is on a wonderful heater

Duke hammered the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 93-46 Sunday, and extended their winning streak to 10.

One of the defining characteristics of Kara Lawson’s Duke program is a rugged defense and that was in play here: Duke forced 15 turnovers and held Georgia Tech to 3-15 on three point attempts (20%) and 16-58 overall (28%). Only two Yellow Jackets got into double figures – La’Naya Foster with 11 and Catherine Alben with 10.

As for your Blue Devils, Riley Nelson led the way with 23, while Ashlon Jackson and Toby Fournier had 16 each. Fournier got hers on 6-8/1-2 shooting and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Jackson had 9 of her own while Taina Mair had 9.

Duke’s turnaround from the early season struggles is remarkable: the Blue Devils haven’t lost since December 4th, the last game in a four-game losing streak that saw the Blue Devils at a rather bleak 3-6. Lawson’s team is now 13-6. The team gets a good break before jetting up to Pitt for the next game Sunday week.
