The Boston Red Sox sit at 54-49, six games behind the first-place Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East. With a 6-4 record over their last 10 games, the Red Sox could certainly be playing better baseball coming out of the break.

However, regardless of how the Red Sox play over the next few days heading into the deadline, there's a very good chance they could move on from some of their top players and add a few others. Ultimately, it sounds like the Red Sox will buy and sell some.

At the top of the list of players they could move on from includes Jarren Duran, whom many believe will be available at the deadline.

When looking at potential trade destinations for the left-handed hitting outfielder, Fox Sports proposed an idea to send him to Toronto.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (16) celebrates after hitting a home run during the first inning against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

“The Blue Jays, who lead the Yankees by three games in the AL East, should operate like a legit contender. Acquiring Duran would fortify that status.

“Last offseason, Toronto made a presumably cost-effective and high-impact move by signing former Baltimore Orioles outfielder/designated hitter Anthony Santander — who blasted 44 home runs in 2024 — to a five-year, $92.5 million deal. Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, Santander hasn't played since May 29 due to a shoulder injury and boasted a .179/.273/.304 slash line before going down,” they wrote

The Blue Jays are in an excellent position at the moment to win the American League East, although it’s far from over, considering there are still two months left in the regular season.

However, as they've played over the past month or so, the Blue Jays have been very good, and nothing has suggested they won't continue doing so.
