2026 PGA Championship director resigns four months before tournament

Ryan Ogle, the PGA of America's tournament director for the 2026 PGA Championship, resigned just four months before the championship at Aronomink.

Ryan Ogle, the PGA of America's tournament director for the 2026 PGA Championship, resigned on Friday, just four months before the championship is scheduled to be held at Aronomink Golf Club outside of Philadelphia.

“Change is rarely comfortable, and timing is seldom perfect,” Ogle wrote in a post on his LinkedIn page.

He said that he has accepted a new opportunity that will allow he and his family to settle down after relocating eight times over the last 13 years with the PGA. Ogle, who first interned for the PGA at the 2012 Ryder Cup, moved to Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, in September 2024 for his role as PGA Championship tournament director.

“I’ve reached a point where planting roots has become more important than planning the next move. I’ve decided to accept a new opportunity that allows me to finally settle my family in a permanent home while taking a significant step forward in my career,” he wrote.

The PGA is set to begin on May 14, and marks the first significant event for the PGA since it had several issues at the Ryder Cup last fall. In an emailed statement to the Philadelphia Business Journal, the PGA declined to comment if it has chosen a replacement.

"Championship planning remains fully on track, supported by an experienced leadership team and we’ll share more about next steps at the appropriate time," the association said.
