One less obligation for Batum.
Nicolas Batum is one of the great international basketball players of this era.
But he won't be suiting up anymore for his country.
With EuroBasket approaching, Batum announced that he is retiring from play with the French national team. He actually will serve as a broadcast analyst for France's games at the upcoming tournament.

This is probably good news for the Los Angeles Clippers, who still rely on Batum as a trusty veteran presence.
He should be fresh when the new season rolls around. Batum, turning 37 in December, is entering his 18th NBA campaign.
He has spent five seasons with the Clippers, with only a short spurt in Philadelphia interspersed into this recent run in L.A.
Batum isn't the player he once was, but he's still an intelligent defender, and he has made 40.4% of the 3s he has taken for the Clippers.
They'll gladly welcome another couple years of that if Batum wants to keep playing in the NBA after hanging up his French national team kicks.
