Liam Rosenior has revealed a couple of players were complaining about their chests during Chelsea’s win against Brentford on Saturday.

The Blues grabbed a much needed three points and moved up to sixth in the league after a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

Joao Pedro opened the scoring with a brilliant strike, before Cole Palmer completed the scoring from the penalty spot in the second half.

Rosenior revealed there had been a sickness bug running through the camp, which caused Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens to miss the defeat to Arsenal.

Delap returned against Brentford as a second half substitute, but Gittens was still absent, whilst Estevao also missed the game through illness.

Chelsea weren’t at their best, but found a way to ground out a result, despite Brentford having a number of very good chances, and Rosenior made an interesting revelation after the game.

“There were a few, I won’t say who, but there were a couple of players playing today who were complaining about their chests,” he told his post-match press conference.

“They put in a magnificent effort. I felt that’s why we weren’t good with the ball. I won’t give you names, it’s not right for me to do that, but I’m so happy with the attitude of the group to get through this game.”

Next up for Chelsea is a crucial Champions League game against Pafos on Wednesday night which is must win if the Blues want to finish in the top eight.

Chelsea need to put a run of wins together

Rosenior hasn’t had much time to work on the training ground given the games have come quick and fast this month.

Whilst the performance wasn’t great Chelsea just need to get points on the board short term, and have a favourable run of games with Leeds, Burnley, Crystal Palace and West Ham the next four league games.

Chelsea need to make big improvements if they are to be serious contenders for Champions League qualification, but that run of games gives a very good chance to get a good amount of points on the board.
