Beaver would be a major addition, but Georgia looks like the early favorite.
Kentucky Football has been making waves in the transfer portal since Will Stein became the head coach in early December. Now, they’re looking to potentially add a big-time prospect to the quarterback room.
Oregon signee Bryson Beaver, who Stein helped land for the Ducks, announced this week that he is entering the transfer portal after spending just one month in Eugene. The class of 2026 prospect was an early enrollee who is now headed elsewhere following the announcement that Dante Moore is back for the 2026 season, while Nebraska transfer Dylan Raiola will be his backup.
Because Stein helped get Beaver to Oregon when he was the Ducks’ offensive coordinator, that prior connection now has Kentucky in the mix for the blue-chip prospect, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.
“Sources tell On3 that two early schools to keep tabs on in this recruitment are Georgia and Kentucky for the short-term signee,” Nakos reports.
Beaver was ranked 174th overall and 12th among QBs by 247 Sports Composite as a high school prospect. That same service now has him ranked 441st overall and 27th among QBs in the transfer portal.
While it’s nice to see Kentucky is in the mix, Georgia looks like the early favorite. The Dawgs are hosting Beaver on campus this weekend and are reportedly in strong position to land him, so this recruitment could end as soon as it began for Kentucky.
If the Wildcats can keep Beaver from committing this weekend and get him to Lexington for a visit, we’ve seen how hot they’ve been in the portal as of late, especially now that Stein is with the program full-time after Oregon’s season ended.
While Kenny Minchey is likely to be Kentucky’s starter this season, having a talented QB like Beaver to push him would be a wonderful development.
But for now, it looks like a long shot to happen for the Cats.
