Bristol Rovers have signed defender Riley Harbottle on a permanent deal from Wimbledon and midfielder Kane Thompson-Sommers on loan from League Two rivals Milton Keynes Dons.

Harbottle, 25, made 35 appearances for Wimbledon last season as they were promoted from League Two via the play-offs.

The former Nottingham Forest and Hibernian centre-half has agreed a contract until 2028 and is Rovers' fourth signing of the January transfer window.

"I think the manager has tried to sign me a few times, so knowing that I am wanted was a big thing after not playing as much this season, after a really successful one last year," Harbottle told the club website.

Thompson-Sommers, 25, is a former Tottenham Hotspur academy player and has joined the Pirates on loan until the end of the season.

He moved to Milton Keynes in the summer of 2024 after spells in non-league football at Hereford and Halifax Town.

He has gone on to play 49 times for MK, including 25 times this season.

"Kane is a really good midfield player who can play as a six, an eight or a 10," said Bristol Rovers manager Steve Evans.

"He's got a wand of a left foot, and he gets around the pitch with good energy levels.

"He's a player that has been in high demand in this transfer window and I had a good meeting with him.

"He's convinced that his immediate future is here with us and I'm looking forward to working with him."
