Official: Elyh Harrison returns to Old Trafford from Shrewsbury loan

Manchester United have recalled yet another player from their loan spell.

The Red Devils have been busy this month restructuring the paths of their loanees.

Ethan Wheatley, Habeeb Ogunneye, Joe Hugill and Sonny Aljofree are just some of the players who have been instructed to return to Carrington this month.

It is highly likely that the majority, if not all, of these loaned players will continue their footballing education away from Old Trafford for the remainder of the season.

Elyh Harrison

Harrison joined United’s youth team from Stevenage in 2022.

He helped the under-21s win the 2024 Premier League Cup and spent last season on loan at Chester.

The young keeper then went out on loan to Shrewsbury in August but has not played as much as he or the club would have liked.

His final appearance for the Shrews came in a disheartening 1-6 defeat away to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup third round.

Loan spell ends

The Shrewsbury Town website confirmed yesterday that, “Elyh Harrison has returned to Manchester United following his loan spell.”

The report continued, “the young goalkeeper featured nine times in all competitions and we thank him for his efforts in our colours. Best of luck for the rest of your career, Elyh!”

The former Reserve Player of the Year will now most likely go out on loan to another team before the end of the month, where he can hopefully gain much-needed playing time for his development.

Harrison had started the season as first choice and produced some impressive performances.

Nonetheless, he was replaced by Will Brook in the starting line-up and Harrison spoke in November about how he enjoyed being pushed by the competition for the number one spot.
