“Arsenal are aiming to swiftly move” to sign Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze this summer after wrapping up a deal for Viktor Gyokeres, according to The Independent.
Per the reports, Eze made Arsenal his top choice, and those close to him believe “a deal will be done in the next few weeks.”
Arsenal are looking for reinforcement on the flanks, and Eze fits the bill, having spearheaded Palace to a mid-table Premier League finish and an FA Cup win.
Eze bagged 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances, including the goal in the final to seal the cup for the Eagles, catching the eyes of suitors like Arsenal.
The Gunners need strengthening on that left flank after an underwhelming campaign from Gabriel Martinelli, who failed to hit the heights of his 2022/23 campaign.
Leandro Trossard has come up with some big moments for Arsenal, but the Gunners could use an upgrade as they bid to end their 21-year wait for a Premier League title.
Arsenal faltered last term as they did not have enough options when key players like Bukayo Saka were injured.
Manager Mikel Arteta and Sporting Director Andrea Berta have moved to plug that problem.
The UEFA Champions League semi-finalists have recruited Noni Madueke to provide competition for Saka on the right side.
Eze will most likely do the same or even usurp the opposite flank.
Arsenal reportedly want to sign Eze for around £60 million, less than his reported £68 million release clause.
They also want to pay in three instalments of £20 million and possibly insert Reiss Nelson to sweeten the deal.
Eze could become Arsenal’s seventh signing of a busy summer.
The North Londoners have added Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, and Gyokeres.
The latter is undergoing a medical before signing on the dotted line.
