Truro City have signed striker Jack Stretton and centre-back George Cooper.

Stretton, 24, has signed a permanent deal after leaving League of Ireland side Drogheda United.

The former Scotland youth international was an academy player at Derby County and played 13 times in the Championship for the Rams as well as in the FA and EFL Cups.

He has also had spells at Stockport County, Burton Albion and Morecambe.

Cooper, 23, has moved to the Tinners from Mansfield Town until the end of the season.

He has had loan spells at Kettering and Kidderminster Harriers and played alongside Stretton while on loan at Drogheda last year.

"There's a really nice atmosphere here," Cooper told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"It's been tough, it's been challenging training sessions and good work, so I think we're ready to attack the new year

"I love defending on the front foot and I'm looking forward to the challenge of the league."

They are the latest players to join the Tinners as they aim to move away from the National League relegation zone.

Midfielder Harry Charsley joined Truro from Oldham Athletic earlier this month while Shaun Donnellan turned his loan from Scottish side Livingston into a permanent move.

"I like to be direct, whether that be as a striker or as a winger," Stretton said.

"I make sure I give everything when I get on the pitch and ideally just score plenty of goals, that's the main goal.

"I like to get in behind and be direct, so hopefully I can do that and score some goals."
