An ex-Golden State Warriors contributor will continue his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs.
Not everyone can cut it in the Golden State Warriors’ organization.
In some cases, a player doesn’t get a legitimate opportunity to prove his worth on the hardwood.
In other cases, a struggling contributor is included in a blockbuster trade for a contributor who can instantly elevate the franchise.
The latter scenario is what former Warriors forward and G-League champion Lindy Waters III endured during the 2024-25 campaign, as he was sent to the Detroit Pistons in a deal that landed Golden State Jimmy Butler.
After the season concluded, Waters, who became a free agent, secured a deal with the Victor Wembanyama-led San Antonio Spurs.
“Update: The San Antonio Spurs signed Lindy Waters to a one-year, partially guaranteed deal worth $500K,” HoopHype’s Michael Scotto reported Friday.

"Waters is a career 37% 3-point shooter over his four NBA seasons combined with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, and Detroit Pistons.”
Waters shot 43.5% from deep with the Thunder before joining the Dubs in 2024, giving the organization hope that he could be a valuable rotational piece in the Bay.
Unfortunately, the Oklahoma State product only connected on 33.1% of his triples alongside Stephen Curry, which made him a tradeable asset once Golden State set its sights on acquiring Butler.
If Waters wants to compete with Wembanyma and the Spurs for the long haul, he must quickly return to his sharpshooting ways.
