Rosenior shoots down journalist questions about “Set-Piece FC” who are actually “good at everything”

An annoying journalist was pratting on in the press conference yesterday about Arsenal being “Set Piece FC.”

Liam Rosenior wasn’t having it:

“Arsenal are good at everything. They’re good at everything,” the new Chelsea boss pointed out.

“They have a good team. It’s not about taking the game back in time. You have to manage your 1% to be as good a team to win as many different ways as possible. I respect them. I think they’ll respect us, we’re a good team as well. But no, people can talk. I don’t know who’s calling them Set-Piece FC. I’m definitely not. I think they’re a team who are very good without the ball. I think they have a really, really clear idea in the way they want to play with the ball. On top of that, they’re very, very well organised with good deliveries on set-pieces. That’s what you want to be if you want to be successful. That’s the idea for every coach.

Chelsea will have to compete in every aspect to take down dangerous Arsenal

Liam Rosenior speaks to the media ahead of Arsenal.

Well, we’d agree with all of that. The fact that they’re so good at set pieces wouldn’t be so notable if they weren’t keeping so many clean sheets, which makes those corners, throws and free kicks match winners when they go in.

Their attack shouldn’t be underestimated either, especially with Gabriel Jesus fit again. We will need to be at our best to beat them – and not just at set plays.

In other news…

Rosenior also spoke about having re-watched Arsenal’s recent games, including the 1-1 draw with Chelsea from not long ago, and having spotted some positive match-ups for his team to take advantage of tomorrow.

In typical managerial style, the new Chelsea boss denied that Wednesday’s game against Arsenal is the biggest of his career so far – even though it surely is, given the context. Like every coach, he insists that he wants to go game by game.
