Chelsea drawn against Hull City in FA Cup fourth round

The Liam Rosenior Derby!

Chelsea made light work of Charlton Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup — certainly in the second half — and thus were in the hat for the fourth draw that was conducted earlier tonight.

And wouldn’t you know it, the mischievous football gods gifted us a matchup with some extra narrative delights, as the Blues were drawn away to Hull City, where Liam Rosenior once roamed the touchlines not too long ago. And in fact, Rosenior not only managed the Tigers for almost two seasons, he also played for them during their most successful recent period, back in the mid-2010s, when they won promotion to the Premier League!

This (hopefully amicable) return for Rosenior to the MKM Stadium will occur on Valentine’s Day weekend, February 14-15. Hull City are currently seventh in the Championship, and well in the playoff promotion hunt.

The FA Cup 4th Round draw, in full, is as follows:

Burnley vs. Mansfield Town
Norwich City vs. West Brom
Port Vale vs. Bristol City
Grimsby Town vs. Wolves
Aston Villa vs. Newcastle
Manchester City vs. Salford OR Swindon Town
