Inter Milan Manager Delivers Fitness Update On Turkey Playmaker After Dismal 2-2 Draw Against Napoli: “Better If I Keep Quiet”

Inter Milan manager delivered a fitness update on Hakan Calhanoglu after last night’s home clash against Napoli.

During the post-match conference via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old once again refused to talk about Antonio Conte.

Napoli eked out a third consecutive league draw at San Siro, holding Inter to a goal-glutted 2-2 stalemate on Sunday evening.

Despite taking the lead twice, Cristian Chivu’s side couldn’t avenge a 3-1 defeat in October’s reverse fixture.

Indeed, Scott McTominay’s double canceled out goals from Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Meanwhile, the latter had to come off in the 88th minute due to muscle fatigue, with Petar Sucic taking his place.

Therefore, Calhanoglu’s availability for the upcoming away match against Lecce hangs in the balance.

However, the 31-year-old will undergo further checks today to understand the extent of the damage.

Although the injury didn’t look serious, Chivu is unlikely to take any risks with his most prolific midfielder.

When asked about the Turkish star’s fitness, Chivu replied: “I don’t know, it’s fatigue.

“The last time I said something, I said Thuram had a cramp, so it’s better if I keep quiet.”

Meanwhile, the former Parma coach hailed Inter’s performance despite failing to win another high-profile game.

“We saw two strong teams who tried to express their ambitions and quality,” Chivu stated.

“It was a serious, genuine, high-level match in terms of quality. It turned into a game where both teams tried to win it.

“I saw mentality and attitude,” he added. “We lacked a bit of sharpness in certain pressing situations.

“This team has a huge desire to go forward and win the ball back.

“Considering the runs they made, I have nothing to reproach the players for.”

Finally, he praised Napoli striker Rasmus Hojlund and defended Manuel Akanji.

“He can put anyone in trouble. When you don’t have cover, you have to accept the one-on-one duel.

“Akanji played a good game. When you take risks, you also have to accept that you might lose some duels.
