The Giallorossi coach is awaiting reinforcements to strengthen his attack amid the ongoing injury crisis.
Injuries to Artem Dovbyk and Leon Bailey were compounded by Evan Ferguson’s injury against Sassuolo.
As reported by Il Messaggero, the Irishman suffered a severe blow to his buttock on Saturday, which crushed his sciatic nerve.
He’ll be able to return to the pitch as soon as the bruise heals.
His recovery time is still uncertain, but he will almost certainly be out against Torino.
On Tuesday at 9:00 PM, for the Coppa Italia round of 16 match against Torino, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Dovbyk will be missing, in addition to Ferguson. Gasperini hopes to have Bailey and Tommaso Baldanzi back, but it won’t be easy.
The attackers guaranteed to be called up for the match at the Olimpico are Paulo Dybala, Matias Soulé, and Stephan El Shaarawy, the only player to have remained inactive all season. Youngster Antonio Arena will be back in the squad.
