Seattle and San Francisco are set for the rubber match in the Divisional Round with the Seahawks as favorites.
The Seattle Seahawks got to enjoy another stress-free weekend in the Wild Card round after locking up the No. 1 seed in the NFC by handling the San Francisco 49ers in Week 18. Guess what? They’ll get back to action against those same 49ers in the Divisional Round!
Seattle and San Francisco face off for the third time this season, with each team getting a victory on the road. Oddsmakers have the Seahawks with the advantage, as they’re (-6.5) favorites according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Both of these teams know each other well and should be able to re-use much of their prep work from just a few weeks ago.
San Francisco went into the city of brotherly love and beat the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles 23-19. It was a back-and-forth game with the 49ers holding off Jalen Hurts and the Eagles in the red zone with less than one minute to play. Brock Purdy bounced back with 262 yards and 2 TDs, but also threw 2 INTs. The Eagles won the turnover battle and time of possession yet still came up short. Trent Williams was back for the 49ers, but George Kittle tore his Achilles so injuries will once again be at the forefront for this game, considering the Seahawks will be looking for Charles Cross and Coby Bryant to return to action.
The Seahawks defense smothered the 49ers last time, while the offense didn’t make the most of its opportunities. Seattle will be more rested with the week off, hopefully leading to some fresh legs. The NFC West was clearly the class of the NFL this year which is being represented in the playoffs as three of the four teams in the Divisional Round reside in that division. Seattle vs San Francisco part three is upon us, and I know the 12s will be ready!
