Torbert is a four-star athlete in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports composite ranking, coming in as the No. 11 recruit in Ohio and the 14th ranked athlete in the 2027 class nationally. While still early in the cycle, he joins a Hoosiers recruiting class that is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation.

Former Taft quarterback Monsanna Torbert committed to Indiana University on Jan. 10. He chose Indiana over Cincinnati, Iowa, Maryland and Pitt.

Torbert chose Indiana over Cincinnati, Iowa, Maryland and Pitt. His verbal commitment comes just one day after Indiana advanced to the national championship game, blasting Oregon 56-22 in the semifinals at the Peach Bowl.

In his junior season, Torbert shone for Taft as the Senators won 11 straight games before falling in the playoffs. He threw for 1,791 yards and 27 touchdowns, adding 375 yards and another four scores on the ground. Defensively, he used his athleticism to track down an interception and returned it for a 50-yard touchdown against Woodward.

Torbert announced in the offseason that he would be transferring to Princeton for his senior year. The move sends him up several tiers in competition, from Division IV to Division I, as he prepares for a college career at the highest levels of the sport. At the Division IV level, he was the Enquirer's offensive player of the year.

This commitment is the latest off-the-field win for an ascendant Indiana University football program. In year two under head coach Curt Cignetti, the Hoosiers are the No. 1 team in the country and headed to Miami for the College Football Playoff national championship game against the Miami Hurricanes.
