Manchester City have received four nominations from the Premier League for their leading awards issued following the month of December.
The recognition follows a flawless run of league results during a crucial period of the season, as Pep Guardiola’s side claimed maximum points from five Premier League fixtures throughout the month of December.
Victories away at Fulham, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest were complemented by commanding home wins over Sunderland and West Ham, with Manchester City scoring freely while regaining defensive control.
Pep Guardiola’s management of a packed fixture schedule, injuries, and cross-position squad rotation has been widely praised, while several players have found peak form simultaneously.
Central to that resurgence has been an attacking trio of Rayan Cherki, Erling Haaland, and Phil Foden, whose individual contributions directly influenced the majority of City’s goals during the month.
Now, as confirmed by the Premier League this week, a trio of Manchester City stars have been rewarded by the English top-flight with nominations for the Player of the Month award for December.
Rayan Cherki is joined by Erling Haaland and Phil Foden on the nominations shortlist, alongside Leeds United’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins, and Fulham’s Harry Wilson.
The French playmaker provided two assists against Sunderland, an assist against Crystal Palace, and a goal and an assist against Nottingham Forest, while Haaland provided one goal and two assists against Fulham, two goals against Palace, and two goals and an assist against West Ham.
As for Phil Foden, the Manchester City attacking midfielder offered two goals during the dramatic win at Fulham, a goal and an assist in the home win over Sunderland, and a goal against Crystal Palace.
Manager Pep Guardiola has also been put forward by the Premier League for Manager of the Month in December, alongside Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Leeds United’s Daniel Farke, and Aston Villa’s Unai Emery.
Finally, Phil Foden has received a further nomination as his stunning strike in the narrow 4-5 away win at Fulham has been put forward as a candidate for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month prize.
With Manchester City entering another intense phase of the season across domestic and European competitions, individual recognition would further underline the momentum built in December.
