Although not playing for Phantom BC, Sabrina Ionescu still will be involved with Unrivaled’s second season.
After all of Unrivaled 2026’s participating players were announced and rosters were revealed, one name was noticeably missing: Sabrina Ionescu.
The league and Ionescu now have provided an explanation for her absence. Although she will not be totally absent from Sephora Arena.
While not playing because of an undisclosed injury she suffered during the 2025 WNBA season with the New York Liberty, Ionescu still will be involved with the league through various initiatives, including appearing on television broadcasts. Last season, Sabrina played for Phantom BC, averaging 18.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists across her nine games played.
In a statement, Ionescu shared:
While I’m disappointed I couldn’t play this season, I’ll be rooting for the Phantom. I’m looking forward to working with Unrivaled through content and broadcast opportunities and continuing to support the league’s success.
