Enzo Maresca has just dropped a statement following his exit from Chelsea.
As you’d expect, it focuses on his successes and doesn’t engage in any recriminations over his exit, instead thanking fans and players. There is no mention of anyone else at the club, but that’s not necessarily pointed.
Maresca’s statement after explosive Chelsea exit
“‘LEAVE THIS WORLD A LITTLE BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT’… My journey with Chelsea began with the preliminary rounds of the Conference League,” the coach wrote on his Instagram.
“I leave with the inner peace of leaving a prestigious club like Chelsea where it deserves to be.”
“I want to thank all the Chelsea fans for their support over the last 18 months. Support that was crucial to achieving Champions League qualification, winning the Conference League, and winning the Club World Cup.”
“Victories that I will always hold in my heart! A special thank you to all the players who have accompanied me on this wonderful journey. I wish everyone who has shared every moment with me every success in this second half of the season and in the future. Thank you, CHELSEA from me and my family.”
He points to his successes knowing that other clubs will have been watching, and knowing he probably won’t have to wait long for a new job. It ended badly, but his time at Chelsea doubtlessly improved his profile and standing, and he certainly won’t be returning to the Championship for his next job.
Thanks for the good times, Enzo.

Fans of Strasbourg are not happy about the move of their manager to Chelsea mid-season, and a furious statement shows how broken the relationship is.
Liam Rosenior may fancy using Andrey Santos more after their shared success together in France, especially after the midfielder looked great against Man City.
