FC Bayern could be close to a deal with Dayot Upamecano.
In terms of contract sagas, the one between Bayern Munich and center-back Dayot Upamecano has been going on for months.
Initially, it looked like an easy re-up, but whatever happened during the summer caused a massive delay as Upamecano bailed on talks. Now, months later, Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund is back to express confidence in the proceedings.
“Upa has been performing at a world-class level for the past year and a half, ever since Vinnie arrived. For us, that would be a very important contract extension. We are in good talks. He’s 27, 28 next year, that’s the best age for a footballer. Accordingly, this will be a very important contract for him for the next 3-4 years,” Freund told Tz (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I’ve known him for a very, very long time; I brought him to Salzburg when he was 16. We’ve known each other for a long time and have a good relationship. There’s no final decision yet, but we’re very, very advanced.”
The end might be near, but fans likely will not feel full comfortable util the Frenchman inks his name on the dotted line.
