I suspect I already know how you guys are going to answer this survey, but I want to have it out there.
There are still a number of free agents who could wind up with a high AAV even if they don’t get a long-term, nine-figure deal.
Could the Cubs sign one of these players? Based on our most recent payroll look last month, and adding in the Hunter Harvey signing that followed that look, the Cubs should still stand about $33 million under the first luxury tax level. (That number could change a bit after tomorrow’s arbitration figure deadline.)
So will the Cubs sign a player for what would be the highest AAV in team history?
