Barcelona are moving steadily towards securing the arrival of one of Egyptian football’s most exciting young prospects.
According to a report from SPORT, Hamza Abdelkarim is on the verge of renewing his contract with Al Ahly before completing a loan move to Barcelona.
The operation has now entered a decisive phase after weeks of background work by Barcelona’s sporting department.
The Catalan club had identified Abdelkarim as a long-term development project, keeping a close eye on his progress before accelerating talks in recent weeks.
With both clubs aligned on the structure of the deal, the path now appears clear.
Renewal before Barcelona move
Al Ahly are expected to finalise a new four-year contract for the youngster in the coming days.
This renewal is seen as a crucial step before approving his temporary departure to Barcelona.
From the Egyptian club’s perspective, extending Abdelkarim’s deal protects their sporting and financial interests in case he returns after the loan spell.

Negotiations between the player and Al Ahly are understood to be at an advanced stage, with all parties confident that an agreement will be reached.
The renewed contract would ensure Abdelkarim remains tied to Al Ahly long-term unless Barcelona decide to activate the purchase option included in the loan deal.
What are the financial details?
Financially, the structure of the operation has already been outlined.
Barcelona would have the option to sign Abdelkarim permanently for €1.5 million once the loan ends in June.
In addition to that fixed fee, the agreement includes up to €5 million in performance-based variables, which could significantly increase the total value of the deal.
Those bonuses would be linked to sporting milestones such as appearances with Barcelona’s first team, goals scored, and other performance objectives.
Importantly, these variables would not be limited to a single season but would extend across the duration of the player’s potential contract at Camp Nou.
