Another Michigan Wolverines’ starter has entered his name into the transfer portal, this time being starting right tackle Andrew Sprague.
The Kansas City, Missouri native played every game for the Wolverines during the regular season at right tackle, where he was very effective, earning a 69.4 PFF grade on 740 total snaps. He was named an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection by coaches and media and shared the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award following Michigan’s win over Nebraska.
Sprague came onto the scene in 2024 in the ReliaQuest Bowl, making his first career start after four appearances late in games, and his stellar play against a ferocious Alabama defensive line led to a Wolverines’ win and fellow true freshman running back Jordan Marshall surpassing 100 rushing yards in his first start. With multiple incoming transfers last offseason and the development of a crowded offensive line room, Sprague beat them all out to be the bona fide anchor on the right side of the offensive line for true freshman QB Bryce Underwood.
If Sprague ultimately decides to leave Ann Arbor and join a different program, he will bring experience, power and extremely high upside as only a redshirt freshman.
Sprague is the ninth Michigan player to either announce his departure or enter the transfer portal. He joins fellow starter, cornerback Zeke Berry, and offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn. Sprague has entered the portal with a do-not-contact tag.
