James Peoples plans to enter the transfer portal after beginning 2025 as Ohio State's starting running back.
Ohio State sophomore running back James Peoples intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal this month.
“God Has A Plan!” he wrote on his Instagram story.
While he began this past season near the top of the backfield rotation, starting two games in September, he saw his role diminish over the regular season.
The emergence of freshman Bo Jackson, who took over as the lead back and ran for more than 1,000 yards, made for a more crowded depth chart in 2025.
Peoples did not see any carries in the Buckeyes' final three games, including in their season-ending loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals on Dec. 31.
As the No. 3 running back behind Jackson and CJ Donaldson, he ran for 344 yards and three touchdowns. His hurdle on a 19-yard touchdown run in a win over UCLA in November was one of the Buckeyes’ highlight plays.
The portal opened for a single offseason window on Jan. 2.
