A new signing is imminent it seems.
Just before Liverpool FC treated the world to a 0-0 draw against Leeds United, news broke from Ecuador that Club Brugge’s Joel Ordóñez was on the verge of a move to the Reds.
According to Diario Expreso, the player has agreed on initial terms with Liverpool, with just final details and the medical left to complete.
Interestingly, the local journalists have not reported on this potential transfer at all. Still, they also haven’t rubbished it, which is probably a good sign that it’s a legitimate story.
With how injury-prone Ibrahima Konaté and Joe Gomez are, Liverpool’s depth chart can probably do with another body to make everyone feel safer about things. The immediate futures of Konaté and Gomez are also up for this summer, with Konaté’s contract expiry well-publicised. Rumours of a move to Milan or other English teams are still out there for Joe Go. A young prospect makes the most sense here, and you probably can’t do better than one with Champions League experience.
