It’s important to bond with your future in-laws
We’re barely 12 hours into the 2026 calendar, but LSU’s already off to a great start in the New Year.
Linebacker Whit Weeks announced on his Instagram that he is returning to LSU for his senior season.
College is too much fun to leave, and there is no better place in the country to be right now than Baton Rouge, Louisiana. All I want to do is ball in the purple and gold. See you in September.
Weeks came into 2025 as a preseason All-American and a favorite for the Butkus Award. Instead, Weeks was limited to just eight games because of pain in the ankle that he injured in the 2024 Texas Bowl against Baylor. Weeks broke his fibula and dislocated his ankle in that game and in November revealed that he missed time because that same ankle was broken. It was previously reported that he was sidelined because of a bone bruise.
“I hardly even practiced before that game, just because I could hardly even walk on it,” Weeks said the week of LSU’s game against Oklahoma. “Then I just kind of sucked it up for that game. But then I remember on Sunday, I was taking a shower, and I couldn’t even stand in the shower. ‘I probably need to go get this checked out.’ I got an MRI on it, and sure enough, it was broken.”
Weeks was able to return to the field in limited capacity late in this past season. He played in LSU’s final two regular season games, Western Kentucky and Oklahoma, and was able to take the field alongside his brothers West and Zach in LSU’s 13-10 win over the Hilltoppers.
Getting Weeks back is massive both on and off the field for LSU as we head into the 2026 season. Weeks was the defensive team captain last season, represented the program at SEC Media Days last summer, and is the odds on favorite to wear the #18 jersey next fall; and of course on the field, Weeks is one of the best linebackers in the country when he’s healthy.
Retaining Whit was probably Priority No. 1 for Lane Kiffin and staff. Now let’s see if they can keep Braelin Moore.
