Enzo Maresca is on the brink of leaving Chelsea as their head coach after a breakdown in his relationship with the club.

According to The Guardian, the Blues are set to hold emergency talks over the Italian’s position and a parting of the ways with the 45-year-old is expected.

The Blues could turn to Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior, who has long been viewed as a potential successor to Maresca.

Rosenior joined Strasbourg, who are Chelsea’s partner club, in 2024 and led his side to a seventh-place finish in his debut season.

The Blue and Whites are also doing well in Ligue 1 and Europe this campaign under the English boss.

Maresca surprised everyone last month when he said he had endured his worst ‘48 hours’ since joining the Premier League club after their 2-0 victory against Everton.

This appeared to be a dig at the Chelsea hierarchy, though he refused to explain his remarks in subsequent press-conferences.

Maresca came to Stamford Bridge after guiding Leicester City to Premier League promotion in 2024.

The West Londoners qualified for the Champions League and also won the Conference League and the Club World Cup last season.

But things have not been smooth for Maresca and his team in 2025-26.

Tuesday’s 2-2 home draw with Bournemouth means they have won just one of their previous seven Premier League matches.

But despite the poor run, Chelsea are still sitting fifth in the league standings with 30 points from 19 games.
