SPRINGFIELD, Mo–Over on the boys side, the Blue and Gold Tournament is wrapping up its 80th year.
On the Gold side of the bracket, the championship game featured David versus Goliath.
Class six Nixa against Class two Hartville.
The Eagles were 11-0, Nixa 7-1.
And Hartville was hot in the first quarter, Jordan O’Quinn with the corner three, and it’s 21-12 Hartville.
But Nixa would battle back in the second quarter, Ty Kellis working hard under the basket, and spins it in, and we’re tied at 28 at halftime.
Move to the fourth quarter, Hartville’s Truett Coryell with the three pointer and its a one point game.
But Nixa would start to pull away, first the Eagles get the steal, and it goes to Kellis for the hoop, 45-42 Nixa.
Then Randy Flint would heat up, he splashes the three pointer, and Nixa would hold off a pesky Hartville team to win the Gold championship 57-50.
