What will future hold for star defensive end?
What we know is that Maxx Crosby’s season is over with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Beyond that? To be determined.
But it’s clear that Crosby’s future will be a major topic of conversation during the offseason.
The Raiders, of course, placed Crosby on the injured reserve late last week because of a knee injury he has been dealing with since October. Crosby, though, was not pleased about the decision.
He left the team’s facility on Friday because he was reportedly upset. Crosby wasn’t at Sunday’s game, but Raiders coach Pete Carroll said he returned to the team’s facility Monday. Carroll has downplayed the situation. I was told by someone close to the situation Monday that isn’t as rosy as Carroll is making it sound.
Clearly, not all is great between the team and player. NFL Media reported Sunday that the situation will cause Crosby to evaluate his situation with the team and Jay Glazer reported that he has been in contact with Crosby and he “is not happy” and Glazer wondered if Crosby will seek an offseason trade.
So, it’s obvious this situation is fluid.
In the end, the Raiders are doing what is best for the team by protecting their investment in Crosby, who reportedly will need knee surgery after the season. Crosby, though, reportedly was told by outside doctors that he could finish the season if he could tolerate the pain. Crosby is a warrior. He wants to play.
Maybe when the season, cooler heads will prevail. So, for now, this situation is on hold.
However, I doubt we’ve seen the end of the Raiders-Crosby saga.
