Dodgers 4-for-1 blockbuster trade proposal would bring 3-time All-Star to LA

The Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen has been one of the worst in baseball this season. They have a 4.43 ERA and have been decimated by injuries.

They gave Tanner Scott a four-year, $72 million deal in the offseason, but he was struggling before he landed on the injured list. Kirby Yates gave up the lead on Wednesday afternoon in the eighth inning, showing exactly why the Dodgers need to target a leverage arm at the trade deadline.

"Clase isn't quite at the all-world level he was last year, but he's still been awfully good, with a 2.80 ERA and 22 saves so far thanks to that triple-digits cutter that remains as wicked as ever. He also comes with one more guaranteed year of team control, plus team options for 2027 and 2028. If the Guardians really are willing to listen on him, he immediately becomes one of the hottest commodities on the market."

Clase led all of baseball in saves in 2022 and 2023. Last season, he led the American League in saves. Since 2021, he has a 1.78 ERA and 179 saves. He has also won two Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Awards. He would take over as the closer, and Scott could serve as a setup man when he returns. That would allow Yates to be used in other high-leverage situations.
