Outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong is in his third season with the Chicago Cubs after making his MLB debut in 2023.

Crow-Armstrong was originally selected by the New York Mets in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft but was dealt at the 2021 trade deadline to the Cubs as part of a package for shortstop Javier Baez.

In his first full season in 2024, he struggled to establish himself offensively, hitting .237 with a .670 OPS and ten home runs across 123 games.

The 23-year-old has emerged as a superstar for Chicago this season and has played a huge role in the team’s success as they chase their first division title since 2020.

Before Monday’s series opener against the Kansas City Royals, Crow-Armstrong was left out of the lineup.

The team announced he’s dealing with a bruised right knee and will miss just his second game of the season.

Over 98 games this season, Crow-Armstrong is batting .270 with an .861 OPS while hitting 26 home runs and swiping 28 bases.

His exceptional defense in the outfield this season—showcasing his blazing speed—led to his first All-Star selection and honor of starting in center field for the National League last Tuesday.

If Crow-Armstrong misses an extended amount of time, it would be a massive blow to Chicago, who are locked in a tight race for first place in the NL Central with the Brewers, as both clubs currently share the National League’s best record at 59–40.
