With a little over a week to go until the MLB trade deadline, reports are coming in about players linked to specific teams. For the San Diego Padres, catchers, starting pitchers, and outfielders are the positions the team is expected to go after at the deadline.

Of the three, the most pressing need is in the outfield. While catcher could use an upgrade, there aren't many great options on the trade block, while there are some very interesting names in the outfield. And one of those names was just linked to the Padres.

According to Jon Heyman of The New York Post, the Padres are one of many teams interested in Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan. The three-time Gold Glove left fielder would be an incredible fit for the Padres.

Kwan is one of the most sought-after players at the trade deadline. Rarely do outfielders with 2.5 years of control, who are solid hitters and great fielders, who don't cost a lot of money, become available.

But, if the Padres can offer a lot to the Guardians, they could pry the two-time All-Star from Cleveland. Kwan has three straight Gold Gloves to begin his MLB career and has been a solid hitter as well.

This season, he has a .285 batting average, a .348 on-base percentage, and a .393 slugging percentage. While his .741 OPS and 106 OPS+ aren't elite numbers, when combined with his defense, he's more than productive enough to try for at the deadline.

Adding Kwan would be an incredible move for the Padres, and while it'd cost a lot, it'd be worth it. This report from Heyman is a sign that the Padres are looking to invest in the team, and aren't afraid of landing a top player, even if it costs a lot.
