While most of the top names are already off the board in free agency, there are still quite a few players left that could be great additions to a contending team’s roster next season.

Among these players is former first overall pick Ben Simmons who remains unsigned despite reports of many teams being interest in him.

Of course, it has been a rough few seasons for the 29-year-old due to multiple injuries but he was able to bounce back last season with both the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers.

Last season, Simmons averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while shooting 52.0% from the field.

While Simmons is no longer the All-Star caliber player that he once was, he can still be a vital addition to a contending team’s roster next season and according to Marc Stein, the Sacramento Kings are one of the team showing interest in him.

“League sources say that the Suns have also had some recent dialogue with former All-Star Ben Simmons, who I'm told has drawn interest since free agency began from Boston, New York and Sacramento,” Stein wrote.”

For the Kings, they entered the offseason with a key decision to make on whether to begin a rebuild or retool their roster to compete for a playoff spot next season.

The Kings chose to retool their roster as they added Dennis Schroder in free agency via a sign-and-trade with the Detroit Pistons and they also added Nique Clifford and Maxime Raynaud in the draft.

Sacramento does have a major issue at the point guard position and they have also reportedly been looking to add a defensive wing to their roster, both of whom fits how Simmons plays.

Simmons is a great playmaker who can run point and he is also a great wing defender who would be a solid addition to the Kings’ bench next season as they try to make the playoffs.
