The Miami Hurricanes have this transfer quarterback thing figured out.

A year ago, it was Cam Ward. This season, it's Carson Beck. Why change now?

The U will be expected to land a big-name QB in the transfer portal once this season is over. The transfer portal actually opens up before the College Football Playoff semifinals, so if the Hurricanes upset Ohio State, they'd still be playing while also trying to land their next passer.

There are a variety of intriguing names out there, and many would surely want to come to Miami after seeing how Ward and Beck have performed for the Hurricanes.

Miami also appears set up to invest strongly in whatever QB they want to bring in.

The name that The Athletic's Manny Navarro has singled out in all this: Sam Leavitt.

The Arizona State QB has started a bunch of games as a collegian and looked very good doing it.

"Miami spends big money on transfer QBs, and that will continue in 2026," Navarro writes. "Cam Ward and Carson Beck enjoyed success in Shannon Dawson’s offense, and Leavitt, a 20-game starter at Arizona State, makes sense as the Hurricanes look for someone a little more mobile than Beck."

Navarro predicted starting QBs for teams across the country in that new article, but his regular role is as a Miami beat reporter. So if there's one team he has the pulse of more than any other, it's the Hurricanes.

That means this prediction is as informed as any. Leavitt very well may end up at Miami when the dust settles.
