Ever since Caitlin Clark burst onto the WNBA scene, she has been a lightning rod for attention. Ticket sales are up, viewership is soaring, and she has undeniably become the league’s biggest draw. But with all that shine comes some shade, especially from a few veteran players who don’t seem thrilled about sharing the spotlight. 

One of those voices? Los Angeles Sparks star Kelsey Plum, who recently threw a subtle jab at Clark’s All-Star team. Well, that didn’t sit well with sports commentator Colin Cowherd. In true Cowherd fashion, he didn’t hold back, calling Plum out in a way that has since gone viral. Let’s just say, it wasn’t pretty.

In a clip shared by his show, Cowherd didn’t mince words as he absolutely bashed Plum for her recent statements. He said, “Why do you take a shot at the golden goose? ... You went from a Motel 6 in a sketchy part of town to a Four Seasons in the shopping district. Stop talking. ... It’s time to grow up girls, like fast. This is a player that got you off the airline that was bright yellow.”

At the postgame press conference on Saturday night, Kelsey Plum stirred things up with a pointed comment about Caitlin Clark and her All-Star squad. During the game, players, including Clark, rocked T-shirts saying, “Pay Us What You Owe Us,” as a bold message amid tense collective bargaining agreement negotiations. 

Plum said the shirt protest was a powerful moment but then tossed some shade, noting that “zero members of Team Clark” were present for the pregame meeting about it. Sitting beside her, Sabrina Ionescu didn’t seem thrilled about Plum’s remark and gently tried to steer things back on track. 

Plum brushed it off, saying she was just trying to keep things light but added the moment still felt unified and impactful. The shirt protest quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from All-Star Weekend, as the players sent a clear message to the league amid the ongoing labor talks.
