Florida State’s offseason roster changes will include another player from the trenches, with defensive lineman James Williams reportedly set to enter the transfer portal when it opens in January.
The news was first reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Williams, who transferred to FSU last offseason from Nebraska, started six games for the Seminoles in 2025 while dealing with injury, logging 19 tackles (3 for loss) and 1.5 sacks.

2025 (Redshirt Junior): Played 11 games with six starts…contributed 19 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and five quarterback hurries…had 0.5 sacks in three of final four games played…Alabama: one tackle and two QB hurries in first career start and Florida State debut…Kent State: season-high four tackles, with 0.5 for loss…Virginia: three tackles…Pitt: one tackle was for three-yard loss…Stanford: one tackle…Wake Forest: two tackles, including 0.5 sacks…Virginia Tech: two tackles…NC State: two tackles with 0.5 sacks…Florida: three tackles and 0.5 sacks in season finale…also played against East Texas A&M and Miami.
