The WNBA superstar shuts down false rumors about her 3-point contest decision.

Caitlin Clark loves to set the record straight, given all the media attention she receives.

During an appearance on the "A Touch More" podcast, hosted by Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe, Clark clarified the reasoning behind her decision to skip the NBA’s 3-point contest, and pushed back on a strange rumor about last weekend's WNBA 3-point contest that quickly gained traction.

“There was a narrative going around that I didn’t want to shoot off a rack,” Clark said. “I don’t know who made that up, but that’s false. … I was just saving my first 3-point competition to be in my own city.”

Clark’s name had been floated as a potential star participant in the NBA’s 3-point contest alongside Sabrina Ionescu. But her decision to hold off had nothing to do with the rack setup, something she firmly dismissed.

“I don’t know who wrote the article suggesting I didn’t want to shoot off a rack,” she added. “But I’m sure they didn’t feel great about themselves after I did that.”

Instead, Clark said her decision was all about location. “It’s in your own city, so I was going to do it no matter what,” she said, referring to the WNBA’s contest in Indianapolis, which she had to opt out of due to an injury sustained last week. “I wanted my first one to be here in front of our fans.”

She also gave a shout-out to Lexie Hull, who stepped in to take her place in the WNBA event. “I’m happy for her. I’m sure she’s going to be a little nervous, but she’ll do great. That’s who I’m rooting for tonight," Clark said.

Hull finished in fourth with 20 points and did not make it to the second round, where Ionescu scored 30 to win the title over Allisha Gray.

In the end, Clark made her choice with intention, and she’s not letting lies define her decision.
