PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland Winterhawks star goalie Ondřej Štěbeták has been named to Czechia’s roster for the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, the team announced earlier thismonth.
He is the 41st Winterhawks player to have had the opportunity to play for their home country at the World Juniors. Through the first 23 games this season, the 18-year-old had a 0.892 save percentage, a 3.51 GAA,and a 13-10-0-0 record.
In the 2024 CHL Import Draft, the Jihlava, Czechia native was selected by Portland as the 57th overall pick in the first round. The 2026 World Juniors is set to take place from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5, 2026, in Minnesota.
