Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua took center stage for a special Netflix boxing event last Fri. night (Dec. 19) in Miami, setting a new record as the highest-grossing boxing gate in the history of the Kaseya Center. Paul was stopped by “AJ” in the sixth round after eating a jaw-breaking uppercut.

Their much-ballyhooed blockbuster, which carried enough hype to generate 1.25 billion impressions across Netflix’s global social channels, scored an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 33 million Live+1 viewers globally from opening to closing bell, per VideoAmp and Netflix.

By comparison, Paul’s spectacle opposite Mike Tyson returned an AMA of 108 million live viewers globally. If you’re wondering how Paul vs. Joshua stacks up against Netflix boxing streams that don’t feature “El Gallo,” the Canelo vs. Crawford card from just a few weeks back featured an AMA of 41 million viewers.

It’s worth noting the Alycia Baumgardner vs. Leila Beaudoin championship co-main event racked up an AMA of 15 million global viewers, once again demonstrating the work Paul and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) have done to shine a spotlight on women’s boxing.

Jake vs. Joshua reached Netflix’s Top 10 in 91 countries and ranked No. 1 in 45 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, Mexico, and Argentina. In news that is unlikely to please Paul, the slow-motion clip of Joshua knocking out “El Gallo” became the highest performing clip from a Netflix live event ever with more than 214 million impressions across Netflix social channels.
