Minor league pitcher could add depth to San Diego rotation
The San Diego Padres officially announced the signing of Korean infielder Sung-Mun Song, Monday and confirmed the details of his contract, which is a four-year deal with a guaranteed $15 million. Song, who has played third base, second base and first base in the KBO, will be introduced to the media and fans via a video call today.
The Padres also announced details for Padres’ FanFest, which will be held at Petco Park, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

- Padres minor league pitcher Miguel Mendez was placed on the 40-man roster prior to the Rule 5 Draft and AJ Cassavell of Padres.com believes he has potential to provide some depth in the San Diego rotation.
Baseball News:
- Long-time New York Mets infielder Jeff McNeil traded to Athletics. The A’s also designated pitcher Ken Waldichuk to open a spot on their 40-man roster.
- The Mets have an outfield position to fill and there is some belief they could look to free agent Cody Bellinger to address their need.
- Free agent outfielder Rob Refsnyder agrees to one-year deal with Seattle Mariners.
- Free agent third baseman Alex Bregman has yet to sign a deal, but he is receiving interest from a handful of teams to include the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs.
- The Philadelphia Phillies made an addition to their bullpen by signing Zach Pop to a one-year deal.
